Or maybe they saw people like Batty, OH, elph and froundland being assholes to everyone, and didn't want to risk the abuse.
This place was SUPER welcoming when I joined in 2004. Everyone was friendly, for the most part. If you acted like a bully or an asshole, you weren't glorified and imitated like nowadays, you were put in your place by everyone, because people actually cared about this place, not just using it as an outlet to get their jollies or harass people from the safety of a keyboard. But that was definitely a different age, as far as the intent goes.

I served with Frownland in plug.dj. I knew Frownland. Frownland was a friend of mine. [MERIT], Frownland has no a sshole about him. He's not wantonly actually acting like an a sshole for the sake of a ssholery. It's more like parodying a ssholes that one would meet in the world. Those kind of people that stress you out totally. He uses their antics as a premise, and takes it full tilt. It's like negative feedback loop, but in a positive way. Reading the subtext of his post one would easily ascertain it's all but a parody of a ssholing. It's not to be taken seriously. Not to white knight Frownland, but in his defense he is actually using "surreal and/or absurdist humour" in the guise of a ssholish jibes and other douchebaggery nonsense.
