It’s chalked up to scribal and translation error and/or different spellings of Nero/Neron. In Hebrew each letter also signifies a number, so where Nero=616 Neron=666. 616 has only been found in Revelations, on ancient Greek papyrus remnants. There are a lot of instances like this in the Bible. Like an ancient game of telephone storytelling.

Gets real ugly when you misinterpret "Kill your first born son or be thrown into the fires of hell."

Wouldn't it be great if the source of all metal lyrics was just a PSA to get your kid vaccinated in antiquity gone-wrong. I think so.
