yeah I wanted to ask you more about what's going down in Puerto Rico. I might even make a thread about it. So I can educate myself while educating others. I did see John Oliver's piece about it but I want more details and it would be perfect to hear it from someone who is actually there. Your experiences matter.

Go for it, I was actually thinking of doing a thread about it too and I was gonna include that piece John Oliver did as well and also a senate hearing on the matter.

Well go ahead and create the thread, I haven't heard about the senate hearing. Was it positive or negative towards what PR is trying to do? or get out of?

A bit of both but alot of the discussion focused around on whether should PR be allowed to file for chapter 9 bankruptcy and whether that would be beneficial to help us restructure our government and our debt. Since PR was taken away the right to file for chapter 9 they talked about creating a new special chapter 9 just for us but not everybody was on board with that and instead suggested to create a committee that would help us restructure our debt.

I'll eventually make the thread once I educate myself a bit more on the matter.
