Copyright restrictions

This thread is suggestion but also a question i would like answered.
i wanna state from the start im not demanding anything cause idk the limitations of this site but i would like to know

Why can't we play Vevo videos here?
Is there a way to?

I used another site that used to have this limitation but it they eventually overcame that limitation and ive used other forums less popular than this one that don't have the restrictions either.

There are alot of good songs that are copyright protected and personally its always a bit of a let down when i wanna play somebody's vid and it's copyright protected. it's not something that bothers me alot it's more like an inconvenience, a restriction that idk why is there in some sites but not others.

If any of the staff could answer why MB has this restriction i would appreciate it.

There either isn't a forum code to embed them
Or there is one but it's turned off.

Sounds like a simple fix, so if the staff wants they can turn the forum code on?

If there is one

Yeah its pretty much the factor of whether or not the code has been implemented. It'd work the same as a YouTube tag. Its an easy fix, the code can be found anywhere. Owner just needs to place it in the master code and activate it.

I think there's a bit more to it than that.
These are videos hosted on youtube that are blocked from hotlinking.

I've done a search and there is a letter code you can type but I don't see anywhere using it.

I have a feeling if there is one it might not be 'offical', if you get my meaning.

interesting.

idk sh*t about coding but again, it sounds like an easy fix. i thought this was gonna be a complicated licence issue but it just sounds like a simple settings issue.

is there a way to request somebody to take the restriction off?

imo i think it would benefit this site.

I understand the hot linking thing. Which never really made sense to me because if I were running a video showing website, you'd think allowing hotlinking would produce more revenue with the ads on the videos. And would promote the website its on.

As for the code, I posted what I said and then looked up to see if I could find it and came to the same conclusion. With no "official" code it could be a risk depending on where an unofficial line of code is coming from. Some people are sneaky with code and in terms of CSS, I believe you can set certain words or phrases to act as line of code, which to a blind eye can be disasterous.

All of you have been here long enough to know that even if its a simple fix, anything that involves coding anything new into these forums is absolutely not going to happen. Advameg are never, ever going to put any weight behind updating this place.
