If it was too big, and you said you weren't going to change it, then he did what he was supposed to do. I don't see your point with this.

If you use context clues you can see she meant "was".

Who cares Jen?.Its not that serious he wasn't doing it maliciously.
Girl, Imma tell you something and it comes from a place of love.
you over think peoples motives and your inability to forgive ppls mistakes, and actions is holding you back from getting to know some great ppl here.

Are you reading my entire post?

I am making other points that you are not reading or are not taking into consideration.

I mentioned that as an example for a point I was trying to make which was showing how most of the moderators here attend to what they want instead of enforcing the rules equally to all the members.

I don't care what posts he edits or if he edits my post.

My problem is the hypocritical motive behind it.

There have been a number of questionable things that have went on in this thread that he could have attended too but he didn't and instead edited a trivial post.

Just because you are friends with them doesn't mean I have to be friends with them and being friends with someone has nothing to do with how they mod a forum. You at times like to mix the two when they are both exclusive.

Carpe Mortem 06-04-2015 04:55 PM

If I were a mod, I'd give you both ice cream.

To play in.

Anyone considering my counter-proposal or is it just getting lost in The Soulflower Show here? Just askin'...

Guybrush 06-05-2015 12:35 AM

Regarding moderators and how they act here, I do think that fairness is lacking. It was in my time as a mod too. I think the most simple, important reason for this is there's no system or policy in place to ensure fairness.

  3. You replied that, in essence, that’s what your proposal would do.
  4. So I responded that, if that’s the case, I didn’t see the point of your proposal since it would involve a lot more effort and a lot more intrusion to do essentially the same thing we’re already doing.

Alright, thanks for clarifying. I think the proposed system would do it in a much better way, plus it could do those other things I mentioned too.

I'd like to bring up transparency in how moderators work.

Regarding the current way I believe things are done, a problem with punishment through a personalized PM from moderator to user is that it creates a conflict between that moderator and that user. If the mod appears angry, the user might get defensive.

So let's say you're a mod. You log on one day and you see a long time user has been temp- or permbanned and you don't know why. It turns out he or she finally got banned due to some correspondence on PMs with another mod. However, you can't read those PMs so all that content is hidden from you. How are you to know that the moderator wasn't working to escalate this conflict? You don't, really. In this situation, the mod has nothing to lose but the user has "everything" to lose. At worst, a moderator could basically troll a user into committing a forum crime on PMs that warrants a ban.

I believe infraction PMs act differently from regular PMs in that other moderators can actually see what is written in them. It helps make rule enforcement transparent and this in turn helps ensure that moderators act professionally and with integrity.

Under the system I propose, I think members should be able to ask to see punitive PMs sent to other members and then get to do that.

Trollheart 06-05-2015 04:34 AM

My system does that too, and in the open.
Again, is anyone even considering it or should I just forget about it and go back to what I was doing? It is a little frustrating, I'll admit, that having worked on an alternative solution I have had precisely one comment on it. It may be **** , or it may be the answer, or it may be something in between, but I really would think that some of you might actually consider it and let me know what you think? Or is that asking too much?

RoxyRollah 06-05-2015 04:38 AM

Probably not .^.
