Fair enough. Would you consider this a song?

cardboard adolescent 12-02-2008 05:10 PM

absolutely. "song" is just a marketing term as far as i'm concerned.

WeeLittleHobbit 12-02-2008 05:13 PM

Hmmmm.... interesting logic. Well if you look at it that way, then just about anything could be labeled a "song."

I draw the line according to intent. If the organized sounds were intended to be music by its creator then I consider it to be music.

Pretty much yeah.

Hard to draw a line when 'noise' is a 'genre' of music.

It's pretty good, I don't hold it to such high regard as others do though.

It's alright I suppose. Wasn't completely blown away by it, as I'm sure I would have been had I listened to it in '68

I think it's crap personally.

I look at The Beatles attempts at avant garde in the same way as I look at the Rolling Stones attempts at psychedelia. In that if you are a fan of either band you can probably find something to enjoy about them.

If you're not they're just bollocks.

I feel like Rev #9 is short enough and has enough pleasant elements in it to feel right on the album, much like the shooting and noises on Pink Floyd's The Wall... I think it's good theater.

However, take a listen to the John and Yoko stuff from that time like "Two Virgins" or "The Wedding Album." It's the same thing but like 40 minutes of that crap. Absolutely unlistenable. There's a reason why those albums are basically forgotten.
