first off, fred frith is friggin' brilliant!! if you have not seen the documentary "Step Across The Border" i highly recommend it!

secondly. Rene Lussier's album "Le Trésor De La Langue" is sheer genius!

and then go and find it. it is incredible what he does with speech and music.

Fred frith ----- Yes awesome :D. I love his early solo stuff, like Gravity, Guitar Solos & Speechless.
Cheap at Half the Price is his most accessible release imo. It's catchy and experimental. Not my favorite, but yeah, I'm sure others might dig it.
And lets not forget the legendary Henry Cow and Art Bears as well! The man can play so many instruments, and he sure does know how to change it all up. Those two groups have created some of my favorite avant-garde recordings ever. And his collaborations...where do I even start.

Rene Lussier ----- Never heard of him before. I'm definitely interested...if I could find that release anywhere.

Guitar solos is one of my favourites for sure. And agreed, cheap at half price is definitely his most accessible and also fantastic.

I read the wikipedia article and I'm downloading the album right now, from the description of it, it sounds really interesting.

this rene lussier album is amazing. it's going to completely change the way i speak and perceive others' speech.

It's the first album that really surprised me since i've discovered musicians like zorn, patton, frith etc few years ago. Furthermore its not only surprising but also really great to listen to. Big thanks for sharing it

I'm more familier with Fred Frith's work with Naked city, although I have looked at a little bit of his solo stuff, and I like it so far. I'll look into Stepping Across the Border when I get the chance. If its not too much trouble, send me a link.

I already have La Tresor De La Langue by Rene Lussier. I have listened to it, but I have yet to actually devote my attention to it for the entire length of the album. From what I have heard of it so far is really great though.

Last time i checked, Step Across The Border was on YT so you can check there. As for Friths music I'd reccomend you album Speechless, most of the Henry Cow works (his first band) and Fred Frith Guitar Quartet.

Oh yeah - Massacre is great band too.
