If you think that Gothenburg, Sweden only produces "Gothnburg sound" melodic death metal bands like In Flames, At the Gates or Dark Tranguillity think again. I introduce you to one of the worlds finest post-rock bands ef. The band was formed back in 2003 when the guys started to create heavy, ambient, melodicious music in their rehearsal room. What came out was something beautiful. With three guitars, bows, lots of effects, organs, glockenspiel, cello, laptops, melodica and trumpets they create beautiful soundscapes.
ef seems to be one of the most hard working independent bands out in Europe. Besides their self recorded demos and 7'' single they have released three full lenght albums and have 10 full EU tours, numbers of festival shows and other smaller tours under their belt. they’ve shared stages with bands like The Album Leaf, Red Sparowes, Gregor Samsa and 65 Days of Static.
In fall of 2009 the three remaining members of ef started to write their third full length album Mourning Golden Morning. The album was recorded and produced by Magnus Lindberg from Swedens Cult of Luna in Music-A-Matic studio. Mourning Golden Morning was released in April of 2010.
The band has its own record label AND THE SOUND RECORDS which they run together with the guys from a fellow Gothenburg band IMMANU EL

Recommended for fans of Explosions in the Sky, This Will Destroy You, Mogwai, Sigur Ros and basically for anyone who likes beautiful melodies and emotional music.

Almost saw these guys live. I was digging one of their albums (I think it might have been "Give Me Beauty") at the time, but I couldn't make it. Solid stuff, no doubt if I recall. I'll have to listen to it again in a bit.
