Default UneXpect

Well, Unexpect has been sitting on a complete album for what it seems decades which was delayed due to legal issues with them dropping 'The End'(A once respectable label seemingly gone to utter ****).

However they've finally released a new single for this album which will come out, and I'm quite impressed with it. First, it felt a bit mundanish, but really got into the psychosis jazz/black metal fusion uneXpect is known for:

Unexpect - Orange Vigilantes

(Apologies if this is already a thread, doesn't seem though that I could find one.)

You got me at jazz, but lost me at black metal. I listened to that stream and it's just the kind of progressive metal I don't like at all. So not much of a positive feedback from me. Maybe there would've been more replies in rock and metal subforum.

Was thinking the same thing. Then again it's hard to fit UneXpect into a category like that. It could arguably be Prog, Metal, or Avant-Garde(No more or less than say Zappa, or Estradasphere which one could argue are more prog than avant-garde anyway). I probably should have just hunted down the new releases thread.

Another great band found here. Thanks mate!!

It's got a touch of sleepytime gorilla museum to it - or is that just me?

It may be just you. I love Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, but can't stand UneXpect. Far too much cheese for my palette.

I can hardly find anyone that enjoys them. I don't think of cheesy at all when I think of them, but my friends think so too. I dunno. I really like the tune "When the Dead Are Joyfully Dancing"

I agree that it's got lots of cheesy smells to it, but that's fine. Some of Mr. Bungle's stuff enters cheddar territory sometimes....
