The Vegetable Orchestra
This Austrian group does exactly what it sounds like they do: they make music with instruments made of vegetables. The funny thing is, even though the concept may sound like it has a lot of potential to be ridiculous, they actually make really, really good music. Their most recent album, Onionoise, which is the only one I have so far, is fairly experimental and is absolutely packed with these amazing organic sounds that make their music so unique sounding.

Wow, this is actually really good. I'd like this music even if I didn't know they were making it with vegetables.

Well that was interesting, I liked the first song a bit more than the second one but I may have to check out this album

This is what automatically put me off vegetable music:

It's embarrassing, it's so lame.

djchameleon 07-11-2011 05:47 AM

whatever I liked that commercial. I thought it was nerd cool

Brilliant! When you think about it you can make sound with absolutely anything.

I think the Vegetable Orchestra is amazing. So far I've just been watching them on YouTube. I don't have the album yet, but I'm going to keep an eye out for it!

But the Vegetable Orchestra isn't lame. Don't blame them for the crimes of others!

i'm the opposite :)....i really liked the second one....although both were very interesting.....i think an entire album could go both ways though....it could either just get better and better or get somewhat mundane.....

That was freaking amazing. I work in a gardening store, I can't believe I never thought of this.

Very few things I'd say are legit avant-garde. This is one of them.

Gives new meaning to organic vegetables although the guy playing the cucumber/pepper combo in the first vid just looks wrong!

Interesting concept but I don't think I would have the patience for more than a few songs.

For one show in high school I did a rendition of 'Moby Dick' with carrots on the drums. I should've taken it even further. I find the Vegetable Orchestra very intriguing.
