Khlyst - Chaos Is My Name is probably my favorite Drone Doom Metal album outside of Boris's Feedbacker. A brief review from yours truly:

Really good, i think i like this more than Khanate.

Bump.
I’m not really into Black Boned Angel/Khanate/Nadja kind of drone, but holy ****, this is absolute gold. I must have more stuff like this.

Go through the rest of Stephen O'Malley's projects if you dig that, you'll probably like most of them.

Better start educating yourself for the drone doom battle then.

Why is this thread in the experimental section of this forum?

DeadChannel 04-06-2015 09:38 PM

Drone music is usually associated with experimentalism.

Wpnfire 04-06-2015 09:47 PM

It's drone doom though. Should be metal.

It's considered experimental metal largely. There's more accessible stuff out there like Earth but most drone artists such as Sunn O))) really go out there.

DeadChannel 04-06-2015 09:51 PM

Experimental music covers a lot of things.

If I want to talk about noise rock, I go to the experimental section even though it's technically rock. Same goes for math rock, or post rock. There are more people who listen to that type of thing over there than in the rock section.

Drone metal could go either way. I'm not sure what percentage of metal listeners would be receptive to drone.

Frownland 04-06-2015 09:54 PM

Math rock is a lot closer to rock than the others, but ja I agree with that sentiment.
