Bardo Pond

There is no thread on Bardo Pond. No... Thread... On... Bardo... Pond.

Basically, they're amazing. If you like your music to be heavily distorted, droning and layered with ample amounts of feedback and reverb, then this is a band for you. It's psychedelic/space rock that delivers one hell of punch.

I essentially wanted to wax lyrical on Amanita and Lapsed, and if that means creating a thread for these guys, so be it. I know there are fans here.

Have a vid:

Pretty tasty. I'll have to check out some more of their stuff. It reminds me of early Hawkwind with a heavier emphasis on sixties psychadellica/rawness. I don't know if rawness is the right word to describe them though, it's just what came to mind when I hear them. They are quite acidic indeed.

Their sound is quite raw I guess, but it's a contrived rawness, if you get me? They layer these distorted riffs with swathes of feedback, reverb, tape loops and other auditory manipulations to create a sound that, as you rightly discerned, is raw and acidic in places - but also languid and soothing.

There is a heavy 60s psychedelic influence, as well as noise rock, shoegaze, drone and post-rock. They're a kaleidoscope of sounds, which is why they're so great.

You should definitely get hold of Amanita. Turn it up loud, whack on some headphones, and enjoy.

I could have sworn there was a thread on these guys already. Hmm. Whatever, eh?

Bardo Pond is delicious. I don't listen to them as often as I used to. Thanks for the reminder. Here's a few of my favorites, and yea, Amanita is a great album... my favorite... but I really like that Batholith EP too, and I would not consider any of their works to be bad.

They're a great band to listen to on a pair of headphones and lose yourself in the music. I've only heard Amanita but I think it's a fantastic album, it has that perfect combination of guitar fuzz and psychedelic trippiness that puts your mind in a good place. Although it is a very long album it never feels like it drags in any way and I always go back for more. I will listen to Lapsed and their other stuff soon enough.

Even though this is the most accessible song off Amanita I just think it is a brilliant song and a good introduction to the band.
