Here's my nomination: "La Legende d'Eer" (1977) by Iannis Xenakis. It's 45 minute piece that stands as one of his more innovative/complex electronic works. It makes an extensive use of high pitches and noise. Very interesting work.

I'll chuck in Sand - Golem. A progressive-psych album produced by Klaus Schulze in 1972. Being from Germany, the band are bracketed with the Krautrock movement, though they're certainly one of the more obscure names associated with it.

Anni Hogan - Mountain

from the labels press release
"Mountain' is an artistic collaboration between musicians Anni Hogan, Robert Strachan and Itchy Ear, film maker Bob Wass and mountaineer Cathy O'Dowd. Hogan and Itchy Ear originally worked on a series of piano pieces inspired by Rene Daumal's 'Mount Analogue' and the superior wisdom of mountains, using O'Dowds Himalayan conquests for particular authentic inspiration. Robert and Anni used these pieces and the Himalayan peaks as a template for painting a soundwave soundscape around the piano compositions."

I'll nominate Harpy's "Do Not Eat". It's a strange, jazzy, proggy, spazzy, no-wavey band from Japan. Not really noisy, just strange, and fun.

This is my nomination. I don't listen to a whole lot of experimental/avant-garde music but I really like this album.

Here's what wikipedia say about this guy:

The album was actually Golem, the band is Sand

Due to my total lack of any experience with this genre, I voted for Do Not Eat on account of the amusing name. Don't let me down, crazy japanese no-wave!

Mondo Bungle 03-10-2012 11:43 PM

Mountain brings teh ****.

Phantom Limb 03-11-2012 01:01 AM

^It's what I voted for, but I'm just looking for good sample material.

TockTockTock 03-12-2012 06:12 PM

Alright, the winner of this week's round of voting is Anni Hogan's Mountain. You have a week to listen to it, and then we'll proceed with the discussion of it. :)

It may be hard to find so let me know if you need me to upload it

Paedantic Basterd 03-12-2012 08:06 PM

Yes please, Bob.

TockTockTock 03-12-2012 08:34 PM

I need a link as well.

Goofle 03-13-2012 09:55 AM

Linky me too!

bob. 03-13-2012 10:59 AM

sent :)

Goofle 03-14-2012 02:12 PM

Edit: Premature.

TockTockTock 03-14-2012 03:38 PM

Goofle... we're not suppose to discuss it until next Monday. When the day comes around, I'll make a thread dedicated to the discussion of it.

Goofle 03-14-2012 04:44 PM

Fair enough. I'll delete my post and listen to it again. Crappy review anyway.

bob. 03-15-2012 11:29 AM

i thought it was fine :)

Paedantic Basterd 03-15-2012 11:52 AM

We get how long to listen to and discuss this? Wondering because I might not make it in, being very busy this week.

Discussions last forever, and you get a week to listen to it before the discussion thread opens.

Paedantic Basterd 03-18-2012 02:57 PM

I can hardly fuck that up then.
