Jon Hassell, Henry Wolff & Nancy Hennings

Jon Hassell is a trumpet-player unlike any other. Never have I heard any other that understands the full potential of the sound of they trumpet as Hassell with the exception of Miles Davis, whom Hassell I would guess, venerates. I don't mean that Hassell is jazz--he's not, at least not in any conventional sense.

I first got into Hassell in my late teens when he was jamming with Brian Eno and Percy Jones. Hassell's music is terrific for listening to stoned on pot, which was my preferred method of listening to him. He seemed to be a kindred spirit with another duo I was really into which was Henry Wolff and Nancy Hennings who made music with Tibetan bells. I don't know why, they sounded nothing alike but I was hoping they would collaborate. To my knowledge, they never did.

While this is definitely eerie and would make good background music for a horror movie or survival video game, can't say I'd just chill out and listen to it on any given day. Still, thanks for the awesome post! Never heard anything like it. :)
