Default Zach Hill

I'm listening to this right now:

Face Tat - Zack Hill

Been a fan of Hella for a while. Found Death Grips a little more recently, and love them.
Gotta say, dude brings some kind of percussive insanity to every project he does.

Solo album is no different. I'm detecting a lot of similar production type stuff to Death Grips - The Money Store.

Drumgasm was a little self indulgent, but lots of technical talent on display (the issue being that you can't tell which drummer is which.

Anyone else a fan?

He's an exceptional drummer and involved in so many great projects and bands.

Have you checked out Flössin? It's pretty much just drones and electronic beeps with Zach's hyperactive drumming underneath, rather primitive, but really hypnotic if one is in the mood.

There's so many side projects, aren't there? Flössin sounds like something I'd be interested in. Thanks for the rec.

Essential video any DG fan should watch.

Awesome snare rolls right off the bat. So primitive -- so relentless,

You can tell he's losing control but he's so innately good at drums that it doesn't even matter.

The security guard's face at like 1:40.

That's for sure one of my favorite home made videos of those guys. I ****ing adore Zach's drumming in these stripped down sets. He makes the bare setup he constrains himself to feel huge and powerful and downright dangerous.

I love the way the crowd grows crazy once he breaks the screen.

This is another really good interview you've probably seen. Zach explains why his set is the way it is.

I listen to a lot of "world percussion," and I own a djembe, and I really feel like that three drum kit he's using is an attempt to find that older, less advanced ritual drum sound. It makes sense for their whole aesthetic.

That said they sound like complete pricks in that interview. Still love them, but yeah.

I don't think they sound like pricks. I just think they are opinionated and know who they are and know what they like. I see them as being true to themselves and not sugar coating things.
