Default The Sporting Life

A GREAT experimental venture between Diamanda Galas and John Paul Jones. A perfect combination of his musicianship coupled with her unique vocal styling.

I saw them at the Fillmore/Club 57/Irving Plaza. He was playing bass with his feet while playing keyboard. He could have easily programmed the bass parts. But, did it all live. It was spectacular. It wasn't simple bass parts.

Of course there were Zeppelin fans expecting them to play Zeppelin tunes. They did one at the end. But, Galas and these geniuses didn't mix. I saw these people at The Firm show. Really? I mean really.

That is...that is not a collaboration I ever thought would exist. I'm going to have to check it out.

How could you possibly not know about this?
It's not as great as you'd expect by the way, a lot of it is kinda poppy.

I think that's why I like it more than her other material. There are phrases to grab hold of.

The best of every genre is when it's memorable. While many can't name Bach from Mozart, there are certain pieces that everyone knows. That's poppy.
