I know very little classical music, but Ludovico Einaudi is a particular favourite.

Modern or early?

I've liked every classical song I've played in symphonic band and stuff I've heard off of my Star Wars soundtrack. I'm curious about this genre of music, but I don't know anything about it.

Anyone recommend any good composers? Albums?

Many film soundtracks are full of good (semi- or neo)classical music.
I like the soundtack albums for "The Mission", "Cinema Paradiso", "Seven Years In Tibet", and many others. Plus J.S. Bach (the Brandenberg Concertos is a good place to start) and W.A. Mozart-the later symphonies and the opera overtures (plus many others).

I am a big fan of Philip Glass and Michael Nyman. I recently discovered minimalism and really things that most of the time all the piano strings.

the star wars you're listening to is john williams...john williams is one of the greatest modern composers ever. Check out his munich pieces too...especially "a prayer for peace"

A man before his time, I recommend Erik Satie.
