Erik Satie

The Six Gnossiennes are very enjoyable. I wasn't aware of them until recently. I have a compilation of Satie's piano pieces performed by pianist Anne Queffelec that I recommend.

Probably my favourite pianist as well, I love how ethereal his music sounds.

This song is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard by the way.

Where did I hear that recently? Is it on a movie soundtrack or something? It's so familiar. :O Maybe it was while watching the Junior Figure Skating championship in Milan. Or...then again maybe not. Anyway, very beautiful indeed.

The influence of the "little man" as he said in is auto biographies, is highly notorious in nowadays music.

His Nocturnes (1916) are a standout work among his solo piano compositions for me. Really different from his other works and its mellow tone especially stands out from the sarcastic and acidic pieces of his later career realism period.

(The 6th Nocturne is unfinished)
