Yeah, Rites of Spring is the shit. You know anything that can start riots has to be pretty good.

The Rite of Spring made me realize not all classical music sucks. I'm glad I was introduced to it, it's really opened my eyes to a lot of great musical works I would have before simply dismissed for being classical.

Ages ago when I was taking music theory at uni, we got out the full score and followed along with a recording of it-- oh it was an exhausting experience & fantastic. And damn! the metre changes in that are almost impossible to follow! An unforgettable piece!

**Sigh
What a helluva piece. This was one of the first big pieces I learned to love like a true musician. God blessed us with a madman like Stravinsky. :)
Hardass bassoon parts (the solo moments are definitely worth it).
Now if you thought four bassoons were hard to find, look at Berlioz's requiem.

I particularly like this piece, twas the first classical music i bought, along with Beethoven's ninth

You now realize what guys like John Williams got their inspiration from?

Sometimes I believe Mr Williams is a bit indistinct in disguise it

I love how it stimulates my imagination and tests my patience at the same time. No matter how many times I listen to this piece, the effect it has on me never wanes. For me, that is the mark of a truly great composer.
