Holst

Is awsome. I have an album called "Holst conducts Holst" (mostly The Planets), which is what it sounds like. Apparently, there's two of them, I have the yellow colored one.

Let me just say I'm sad to see it has no popularity compared to the conductors that totally misinterpret his works.

Anyhow, aside from The Planets, what would his best work be? I'd like to hear more from this genius.

Afraid I can't help you there, all I've heard from Holst is the Planets, but what a work that is. It's great from top to bottom.

The Planets Suite is what Holst will always predominately be known for, but Choral Hymns from the Rig Veda is also pretty amazing.

Yes, Holst is an amazing composer. My students have expreienced interest in playing Mars from the Planet Suite at the very least. Perhaps we could attempt to learn some others, but I've assured them that Holst writes complicated parts.

Check out Choral Hymns. It's another of Holst's works.
