Default Wagner is my new hero.

I love Wagner. I want to be one with him. I want all my future compositions to follow his style, with his rich chromaticism and incredible leitmotifs.

After listening to the overture to Tannhauser, it made me forget all my problems, all my worries, all the negative things that have happened.

Whenever i listen to it, it just whisks me away to a new time, a new place in my life and world.

Its like my life is complete after listening to it.

<3 Wagner.

What'll help:

Try to get a copy of the score for one of Wagner's pieces. Then copy it down on your own paper, note for note, marking for marking. What you're doing is breaking down the composition, and you can see what Wagner did to make each sound.
Perhaps I could suggest John Williams? They use the same style, if I'm not mistaken. (John Williams wrote the theme for the Harry Potter flims, Dante's Peak, and many other movies you've probably seen)

Wanger is definitely 1 of my top favorite composers. My favorites are The Valkerie, The Flying Dutchman, and Tannhauser. I wanna hear more please tell me more of this works

The only one I can think of right off the top of my head right now is the Magic Fire Music from Die Wulture. It's a wonderfully written piece of music.

Lohengrin, prelude to act III

Lohengrin, wedding march.

those two are also great. But tannhauser overture is the best overture ever.

Haha, thank you. The best knowledge comes through exprience. I've been in music since I was 5, so 30 years of exprience! Y'know, you're welcome to pm me if you really want to.

Have you checked out his opera Götterdämmerung? It's amazing! Beautiful strong chorus.

yes, wagner was really really clever but his work is tied up with some super forward thinking ideology (put aside the anti-semitism/extreme german nationalism)--the notion that music listening/opera viewing becomes a totally absorptive experience
