Paul Spaeth is composer and performer of piano music from the United States, born in 1983. His music is simply amazing, it seems to tell a story not with words but with emotions, through the change of tempo, intensity of sound, pauses and combinations of sounds.

Here's the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra performing Mussorgsky's Night On Bald Mountain. I first heard this on a CD compilation of classical music pieces I got from a credit card company as a gift for doing business with them. Go figure.

John Adams - Skaker Loops, Part 1

My local classical music station has received a lot of well earned flack for playing too many compositions written by guys who died two hundred year ago. So it was refresing to hear on the station this piece from a living composer--even if it was on a non-local syndicated program and not played by one of the station's own DJs. What I like about this piece are the tense and chaotic parts which are sure to offend some snooty old woman and her rich husband and would cause them to abruptly leave any live perfomance of it. This composition is a refreshing change of pace in the classical realm.

I'm dutch and i went to a André Rieu concert a year and a half ago. Was amazing!
