violin--sorry if i sound dumb...

Hi,
I have a question regarding violin music.
Is there a SOLO violin classical music?
For example, for piano, there is moonlight sonata, which you can play only with piano.
Is there something like that for violin?

A very famous, classic violin piece...

Sorry to sound dumb...

Thanks in advance for your input.

I'm sure there is, I just don't know any composers or a name of the piece.
You'll get an answer, though :)

Paganini's 24 Caprices are violin solos. I don't know which one is the best known, or considered "a classic piece" (perhaps #24), but they're famous amongst the classical-music lovers, that's for sure.

You should check out this site: http://www.theviolinsite.com/violin_music.html. There's a lot of solo violin music on there by different composers. Some pieces even have the piano accompaniment if you need to play with a piano. I think most of it is in PDF format so you'll be able to print it right out!

Ysaye, Rochberg and Telemann all have unaccompanied solo violin works.

Solo Time for Strings by Forest Etling.

Albeit this performance isn't neccessarily solo, the song itself has been played in many forms, and can easily be noticed, and work as a solo piece:

Albeit, it's quite difficult.

the Bach solo sonatas and partitas, the Ysaye solo sonatas, and the 24 Paganini Caprices are probably the most-played...but there are lots of modern and contemporary pieces, too.
