I've struggled to like/understand a lot of recently composed classical music but too often failed to hear anything much beyond mindless noise being convinced a lot of this stuff is the musical equivalent of throwing a tantrum.
So this little lecture didn’t convert me I’m afraid. The appalling acoustics of the speakers microphone set-up added an extra layer of annoyance.
Others may differ but I’m totally unconvinced.
That’s not to say all recently composed classical music is gibberish, instance Arvo Pärt.

Here’s on out of left field. To my ears the equal of the greatest art song [Lieder] it crosses so many boundaries I’ve no hesitation placing it in the classical section.

Define 'recently composed'?
