If you haven't heard it, put this on your list. Its off of the album "Honeysuckle Rose" (an album I've been meaning to review for sometime) and its called "So You Think You're A Cowboy".

Haven't come across Honeysuckle Rose before, but I could swear I've heard of it somewhere or other - is it one of her later ones? I've got a lot of her 70s work, Wrecking Ball from the 90s and her last one, All I Intended To Be myself. Top lass - Elite Hotel and Pieces Of Sky are up there with the best of them.

Actually, Honeysuckle Rose is a Willie Nelson album/soundtrack off of his movie Honeysuckle Rose. I should have clarified that :) But she makes a guest appearance in it a few times one of them being that "So You Think You'e a Cowboy" song. Emmylou Harris's voice + Willie Nelson's guitar = bliss.

1. Dwight Yoakam, seemlessly traditional while merging in that true Honky Tonk feel. "Blame the Vain" is one of my favorite albums of all time.
2. Merle Haggard, because no list is complete without one of the most unique "twangs" out there.
3. Kris Kristofferson, well, he writes most of his songs, and they're undeniably powerfull.
4. Reba, Probably the only female country singer that I like, and I like her enough to have her in my top five.
5. Garth Brooks, sure, he's a pretty ****ty singer, but damn if he's not the best showman country music has seen in years.

I don't put Cash on it, because, well, he's my favorite artist of all time, and everyone has already cited why I also like him. I just skipped him and did my 2 through 6. :D

what, no one thinks much of Emmy Lou Harris, John Prine, Steve Earle. Definitely agree with Gram Parsons and Townes Van Zandt. Garth Brooks, give me a break, he does country?
