Everything I have heard about DAC I dislike
But he has written some great songs. I love some of his albums- Longhaired Reddneck Rides Again/ Willie, Waylon & Me. I also kind of love his debut, Penitentiary Blues

I have not heard any of DACs racist or porno albums, I have avoided them.
I listened to a few songs by Johnny Rebel & was quite sickened by him. Rubbish music & just awful, awful.

But DAC has some classic songs & I love his voice. Not any recent stuff I've heard from him, but his seventies stuff was great
I did see him in concert in the eighties & he was excelent

Outlaw Country was the best kind of country. Newer country is nowhere near being as good as older country was. Country music just isn't the same nowadays.

Also, in case you were wondering, yes, every one of the sentences I typed had the word "Country" in it.

You realize the two underground releases of his were recorded & put out at the behest of his friend Shel Silverstein, right?

Uppity & ignorant isn't a flattering combination.

Going to throw TvZ into the mix. Guy was a wondering folk-poet who penned some of the most tragic and heartbreaking music ever written or recorded, not to mention wrote a few hits for the likes of Willie, Haggard, and Parton. Man lived an incredible, tragic, short life.

Townes Van Zandt songs to check out:

Waitin' Around to Die (Heartworn Highways performance is very moving)

Pancho & Lefty

To Live is to Fly

Rake
