This song is great! And the video is also cool. :)

i know =]

Tim McGraw is awesome. I like one of his newer "Let It Go" better, but this is up there in the top 5 fo sho

I would have to STRONGLY disagree with you about this being the only good country song. It's certainly not the worst song, but schmaltzy country songs like this are a dime a dozen.

Having said that I used to love this song about 13 years ago when I was just getting into country music.

And that SIMS video is terrible.

Seconded.

It's a shame that country gets the cold shoulder from a lot of music fans. There really are some great albums and, of course, songs out there.

simplephysics 02-23-2009 08:12 AM

I would much rather listen to O'Death.

Flower Child 02-23-2009 09:14 AM

Tim Mcgraw = who cares.

Willie and Waylon can play circles around him.

You are going to have to explain to me why you keep posting that icon and what it means. Sorry I am of the old school that likes my communication in English.

Yes you can. There is a lot of fantastic music with Country roots out there from the 90's through to today. I will give you a few names to explore.

16 Horsepower.
Calexico.
Elliot Brood.
Freakwater.
Giant Sand.
Golden Smog.
Handsome Family.
Jim White.
John Doe.
Lucinda Williams.
Mary Gauthier.
Neko Case.
O'Death.
Texas Tea.
Willard Grant Conspiracy

to name just a few.

jawdropper--just surprised by the love for country and especially the video...but to each his/her own, you know....
Though, come to think of it, I admit I have Dixie Chicks latest CD and a couple of Dollie Parsons' (more a cult hero to me than musician), I think Lucinda Williams is cool, and I worship Willie Nelson. I guess I'm a contradiction....

Thanks man. I've only listened to two artists on there(16 Horsepower and Neko Case), so I'll definatley check out a few more.

Alfred 02-24-2009 02:46 PM

I love 16 Horsepower. Fantastic band.

4ZZZ 02-24-2009 03:37 PM

16 Horsepower are very good indeed.

Those artists I named are but a few that I have explored. They are lumped into the the Americana genre.

To name but a couple that I like.

I am an unabashed fan of Jim White. He has 4 albums. His debut Wrong Eyed Jesus is IMO essential. The other three have exceptionally good high points. Why a singer songwriter of his ability is ignored I can only guess at.

Giant Sand. A weird off kilter mix of lots of rock and folk tinged country. Love them.

Willard Grant Conspiracy. Some highs on each album that to me are wonderful songs and stories.

If any of you are interested I will put together a mix tape of a few highlights
and put it on the main board. I am not going to bother unless there is interest though.

Glad to see another Willie worshiper on here. Have you seen him in concert? I caught him at Joplin, MO and at Tulsa, OK and he was great. He sounds and plays just like he used to.

I saw him in Austin a while back. Good place to hear him, as I would imagine MO and OK are, too. He's on tour now--going to see if I can catch him in New Brunswick, NJ in April.

Oh that is so awesome that you saw him in Texas. Was it an outdoor concert? That is definitely next on my list to see him in Texas. I have to see him again because the last times i saw him i didn't get his autograph and i have regetted it so much.

johne 02-25-2009 12:16 PM

No, it was an indoor concert hall on (or near?) U. of Texas campus. But outdoors would be awesome. The place to hear him would be Stubb's BBQ in Austin--the outdoor ampitheater connected to Stubb's, if he ever makes it there again. If fact, he is in Austin this Sunday at a larger venue--so you'd better hurry and get tickets :)
