Brazillian Music

Tropicalia/Bossa Nova/Samba/Whatever.

I like the entry level stuff... Stan Getz, Joao Gilberto, Caetano Veloso, Gal Costa, Os Mutantes, Tom Jobim, etc.

More appropriate forum.

I like what Brazilain music I have heard. I have the first Os Mutantes album and want to hear more. This:

is an absolute superb entry compilation for anyone wishing to get into the sounds. I like Brazilian Reggae too.

World music is a stupid term.

Got that compilation. Too bad I already have a few of the tracks on it.

Yeah it is but still a better forum considering the breadth of music on offer.

Check this out if you have the time. Kinda groovy psychedelic salsa flavoured instrumental kitsch grooves if that makes any sense (not!):

I don't think I want to get involved with salsa. If salsa is what I think it is.

No this stuff is classic with a little bit thrown in here and there:

Some would say it's muzak!

I really need to get some tropicalia - Os Mutantes and the Gal Costa track I heard in an MB comp way back have me hooked.

No-ones mentioned Cibelle, so here goes...

Top lass, and my favourite Brazlian singer-songwriter doing the rounds today. As far as albums go, the Shine Of Dried Electric Leaves is good, but tries a little too hard for the English-speaking market, so I'd say her self-titled debut's your best bet.
