East European Music

Did any of you guys stumble upon that kind of music? I found a band called: Ostatni Przystanek Postępu on myspace: /ostatniprzystanekpostepu What do you think? Know any other?

I started getting into the more Eastern European stuff from the Vladivostok radio station in GTA4. Fun music to listen to at the time, but I've yet to really follow up on anything, something I really should rectify.

I can recommend you Ukrainian pagan metal band called Chur (read as "tchoor" or something).

I like the old gypsy music of eastern Europe. It reminds me of the folk stories and fairy tales I'd read as a child. There's something slightly adventurous and dangerous, exotic even, to the sound.

I love the old gypsy music, which reminds me of Argentinian tango music.

It makes sense because the tango grew out of flamenco music which was played by Spanish immigrants from Romani (gypsy) culture who settled in Argentina in the 18th Century.

Gypsies and Jews are largely responsible for Europe's music and dance culture just as blacks are in America. Odd that in Europe, Gypsies and Jews were as hated and oppressed there as blacks in America.

Btw, I watched a DVD that had an interview with Ritchie Blackmore and he said he wrote the instrumental interlude in "Highway Star" based on Hungarian music that was playing on the radio.

Yeah, the European crusaders supposedly brought both Jewish and Arabic music back with them from the holy land.
