Leo Kottke

I recently got into Leo's Music and I was wondering if anyone else was a fan.
my Favorite songs are Watermelon, The Fisherman, Ojo, Mona Ray, Taking a Sandwich To A Feast, Can't Quite Put It Into Words, Power Failure.

Any reccommendations? I have 6 and 12 String Guitar and Dreams and Other Stuff.

I enjoyed "ICE WATER" a lot

Yeah I've heard that too. The only song I liked was Tilt Billings and the Student Prince.
Pamela Brown was ok too. I'm not much for his voice, but on Chewing Pine there are a few songs he has good vocals on.

6- and 12-String Guitar is one of my favorite albums.
But I can't stand his vocals and I've heard some other crap instrumental stuff by him as well. But maybe I'll check out Ice Water - I'd love it if I could find anything by him anywhere near as good as 6- and 12-String Guitar.

6 and 12 was the first i'd ever heard him. Chewing Pine and Dreams and Other Stuff are worth checking out.

So far my least favorite albums of his are Greenhouse and Ice Water.

Yeah, that's more like it - if the 2 albums you mentioned are more of that then I'll listen.

Yeah the song in the video, Mona Roy, is the first one on Dreams And Other Stuff. Also on that lp are "When Shrimps Learn to Whistle" and "Taking a Sandwich to A Feast". The others on that lp are just mediocre.

Chewing Pine- the whole album is great with the exception of "Don't You Think".

Kottke is great. I'm not that familiar with his earlier material and I'd like to be, but my favorites from him are:

- "Live" from 1995 which showcase solo acoustic versions of tracks from his preceding 7 Windham Hill albums all of which have a few standout tracks, with fuller instrumentation, only some of which are showcased here. Some of his stuff is pretty eccentric and he's got a pretty good and dry sense of humor in his stage banter that's also on display. It's a good live disc.

- His next LP: "Standing in my Shoes" from 1997- has a cool version of Lindsay Buckingham/Fleetwood Mac's "World Turning", a couple really cool instrumentals (Vaseline Machine Gun & Cripple Creek (not the same as The Band's song)), and a cool mellow verion of Dylan's/Traditional's Corrina Corrina.

- His two with Mike Gordon (bassist from Phish): "Clone" and " Sixty-six Steps" from 2002 and 2005 respectively. Those are both pretty solid.
