"I first discovered his music by buying Chenier LPs in New York jazz and blues record stores in the late 1960s", says Jagger. "The Stones always really enjoyed listening to his special blend of Cajun dance music. And still do."
Indeed, the Stones open Tribute to the King with their version of Zydeco Sont Pas Salés, which has Jagger singing in “Louisiana French” (a Creolised French patois) while Richards and Wood rock with abandon.

Another funky groove from Mali, "Sadio Sidibe lors du Festival des Arts de Tominian (FESTAT) en 2019."

....we celebrate one of Wasoulou's most beautiful voices, Sadio Sidibe. She lit up the stage in Tominian at the 2019 Festival des Arts de Tominian (FESTAT), captivating audiences with her hit “Diarabi”. This timeless melody not only serves as a testament to Sidibé's deep love of music, but also provides a platform to pay tribute to her mother, who supported and helped her realize her dreams.

With the third album “Diboli”, Tamala officially presents itself as a quartet with harmonica player and guitarist Olivier Vander Bauwede as a new band member. Diboli, a border town between Senegal and Mali where Mola Sylla's ancestors come from, symbolizes the connection to her past. The album is a tribute to all the musicians who have contributed to West Africa's rich musical tradition, but whose names have often disappeared in the course of history.

Anybody have certain bluegrass recommendations? I want albums that mostly focus on bluegrass but also goes into plenty of other territories. I get pretty tired of same-genre-every-track very easily.

And preferable less than 50 minutes. An hour of samey bluegrass is very tiring.

Sierra Hull’s more recent albums would probably work for you. She is one of the very best mandolin players around. She has broadened her musical range beyond bluegrass.

Ilham al-Madfai (Arabic: إلهام المدفعي) (born 1942) is an Iraqi guitarist, singer and composer. al-Madfai's synthesis of Western guitar stylings with traditional Iraqi music has made him a popular performer in his native country and throughout the Middle East.
Lyrics: Khuttar/the unexpected guest
joy might visit us unexpectedly... hang the lit candles
it might pass through this way...
The poet wrote this poem while he was in prison for a long period of time in Iraq. it is a conversation between the poet, his heart, and joy.

Even the name reveals the band's attitude: Barbès is the North African quarter of Paris. Calling themselves its national orchestra not only indicates a functional self-confidence, but also a witty and critical attitude.
The members come from Algeria, Morocco and France, and so the band sounds a bit of everything, but always oriental; the difference in age of the musicians also ensures different facets.

Raï is a popular folk song from Algeria. A means of conveying social reality without taboos or censorship, Raï music touches on topics such as love, freedom, despair and social pressures.
....the release of the album Hagda by Raïna Raï, the legendary band from Sidi Bel Abbès (Algeria), Elmir Records is happy to present the vinyl reissue [2022] of this multi-faceted pop-raï masterpiece. This mythical album, recorded and self-produced in 1982, which cover of Ya Zina became an international hit, still sounds very modern thanks to the avant-garde guitar of Lotfi Attar.
Originally released on cassette in 1982.

we are back to you with this magnificent piece of work witch belongs the moroccan singer HAJA EL HAMDAOUIA diva of AYTA العيطة
with the arrangements , mix and musical ideas of ‪@Eljoee‬
and the amazing voice performance of ‪@CHAAMA‬
we tried in this cover to revive this kind of moroccan music and to give it a new moderne electronic vibes without taking of the beauty of it and the most important thing such as the violin and also the maghrebin percussion such as ( deff , tbila ... etc )

With his restive blend of pop, folk and soul, Asaf Avidan has been a dazzling success since his first album, The Reckoning, was released on the label he set up with his brother in 2008. Released at the height of his powers in 2020, his seventh album Anagnorisis, took the form of a search for identity. Boldly, he decided that all the vocals on the album would be his own: from piercing falsetto to theatrical baritone, he creates a gospel choir in his own right, revealing a breathtaking range of vocal techniques and shivering emotions.
