This is a Jewish tune originating from Crimea, demonstrating the interesting interplay between Jewish and Crimean Tatar music.

Aly Keita was born in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, in 1969 to Malian parents and is a Malian national. He comes from a Malinké family that has practiced the profession of “griots” (traditional singers and musicians) for generations. He spent his childhood in Abidjan and Mali, where he first learned to play the traditional pentatonic balafon with Zouratié Coulibaly. In 1986, he met Georges Makinto, with whom he played jazz music for the first time. He developed his own diatonic balafon, which opened up new possibilities and styles for him.

The Anirudh Varma Collective is an Indian Classical music ensemble led by New Delhi based pianist and composer, Anirudh Varma. The Collective comprises musicians and artists from India, America, and Canada.
Based on the rare Carnatic Raga 'Vasanthi' (Bhupeshwari or Bhoopkali in Hindustani Classical), this was an unrehearsed and impromptu performance. We decided not to write an arrangement for this, and instead feed off each other's energy and hear what comes of it!

Israeli composer Shye Ben Tzur, and Jonny Greenwood and Indian ensemble the Rajasthan Express have announced details of a new album, Ranjha.
The album brings together a cast of 21 musicians, with the Rajasthan Express providing the rhythmic and brass heft that defined the group's earlier work. Also appearing is Tom Skinner, the jazz drummer and Smile member, who plays on the album's title track, released today. Ben Tzur, who relocated to India after first encountering the country's music as a teenager, remains focused on the physical impact of the sound. “You feel this music on your body,” he says. “Then it affects your emotional state when you hear the melodies. Then come the words and the lyrics.”
