First-Aid Kit

Unfortunately I'm at work and can't post a video, but someone else should do it.
This is a Swedish folk/indie band, and they're like fifteen years old.
Since Sweeden is made of win already, check them out.

I believe this should be moved to the Indie/Alt forum.

First Aid Kit

I'm surprised there isn't a thread about them here. I couldn't even find mention of them in any posts. Well... here ya go anyway:

First Aid Kit is comprised of two young Swedish sisters that perform both originals and covers, using only both their voices and a single acoustic guitar.
I'd found out about them around 2 years ago on Myspace and was immediately taken by their sound and vocal quality. Their dynamic between each other is perfect and the emotion they're capable of projecting is nothing less than breathtaking. These two are like female versions of Simon & Garfunkel and I love it.

Here are a few videos of them in action:

The first is a cover of Fleet Foxes - Tiger Mountain Peasant Song, which is arguably First Aid Kit's best-known cover. They do an amazing job in this, and another thing that should be noted is they actually use the woods as a natural reverb, which you can hear if you listen closely when they're projecting. Everything about this cover is genius, and it really highlights their harmonizing capability and natural talent.

This next vid is of their original Jagadamba, You Might.
Love the tone of it, and their raw delivery. I like this live version far better than the actual released version.

And here they do a cover of "Walk The Line" by J. Cash. Perfect.

Another one live on the streets:

Their more recent stuff:

Anyway, I think these girls are super talented and just wanted to share a little First Aid Kit with you guys just in case you needed some.

Wow thanks for sharing, that's fantastic. I've got to get me some stuff of theirs now, definitely that fleet foxes cover.

Freebase Dali 06-29-2010 08:41 PM

Their Fleet Foxes cover is my fave from them for sure. Love it.

I stumbled upon First Aid Kit randomly, and the song that came on was the Fever Ray cover of When I Grow Up. The vocals intrigued me the most. I like Drunken Trees, and I will keep a lookout because I think they have potential and they help me sleep sometimes.

Well I'm sure there aren't threads on many people. Their album last year was certainly a good one among many good ones that year (though most unhyped).

Wow! These girls are amazing! Thanks for sharing!

How the hell did you search for that? I remember trying back when I made the thread, and came up with nothing. Now that I try (so I can merge this one with yours), no matter what combos I do, the search is either too crap to make sense out of 3 letter words, or comes up with nothing.

I just don't want to click through each page to find it back in 09... I moved it to this forum, but it's still buried somewhere.

Freebase Dali 05-29-2011 07:25 PM

Nevermind... I had an idea and just searched for your text in the post.

Bane of your existence 05-30-2011 02:01 AM

Haha, yeah I knew I made the thread so I just searched all the threads I've created from my profile.

Euronomus 01-24-2012 12:00 PM

Glad to see i'm not the only one who had trouble finding them with the search:D

Anyway they have a new album out"Lions Roar" imho their best release yet

They have already put out 2 videos from it

Also check out the bonus track here.

You know a group is talented when they can make Patti Smith cry to her own song!

TheBig3 07-28-2015 08:22 AM
