Fursaxa
Fursaxa, AKA Tara Burke, is an American Acid Folk/Psych-Folk/whatever musician. To date, she's released seven solo albums, I've heard four and they're all near-faultless as far as I'm concerned.
I can't begin to describe how amazing her music is without coming across as a twat... So I'm just going to post a few videos and hope somebody checks her out, you definitely need to. I have links to albums if anybody is interested. |
I actually just nicked this from your lastFM for future reference. I may not get to it soon, but when I do I'll get back to you.
|
Do it NOW.

You drive a hard bargain.
Took the self-titled. This will get listened to probably within the week. |
... I haven't heard that one. I've got Alone in a Dark Wood, Mycorrhizae Realm, Mandrake and Lepidoptera. It'll be sod's law that the s/t is her one duff album.
|
RYM says it's her best, but if you want to throw me your favourite pick, I'll take that instead.
|
If RYM says so, go with it, I'll be snaring that bad boy very soon.
My personal favourite is Mycorrhizae Realm. |
From the genres listed on RYM and the first track (Mycorrhizae Realm), I thought this was going to be a lot like the Taj Mahal Travellers' August 1974 (which is beautiful, but overlong for my tastes), but it's a great deal easier to digest than that, and I like that.
Didn't expect the vocals, but they're beautiful. Something about her music just sounds ancient, like a desert spirit journey or something. It's meandering, but her voice really centers it. Great album for people like me who love free folk and drone in short doses. I was pleasantly surprised. |
