Toby Keith

He's a polarizing figure but I think he's a pretty good song writer. I assume we're not going to get much traction here, but if theres someone else out there, let me know what you think.

Well, this guy really knows how to write some amusing, feel-good lyrics and he delivers them with just the right, easy-going tone. It`s difficult to listen to these songs without a smile, but I`m not sure that I`d want to listen to them again in hurry.

I wonder what`s polarizing about Toby Keith - is it because he`s celebrating what I understand to be a sort of macho, redneck lifestyle ?

I was impressed to see him singing behind a chicken-wire screen in the last video. Do places like that really exist ?

Allegedly they exist, but I think its a blues brothers (Movie) reference.

He's polarizing because of his political stance on things. I purposely didn't link any of the videos that are offensive to the left-side of the political spectrum. He tends to be pretty jingoistic.

Oh yes, they most certainly do. I live not too far from a very rural area.

^ Well, you did the right thing there, I`m sure.

On the other side of the water, these guys enjoyed a brief popularity because of their humourous take on British drinking habits :-

They were pretty friendly with Clapton for a while and even opened for Led Zeppelin once apparently, but in the end their style was just too old-fashioned and homely to be considered as anything other than a novelty act.

Enjoy it if you can !

^ That`s something you never see in England, though I did once go to a huge, empty bar at lunchtime and watched with some surprise while a local dog ambled in, cocked his leg, peed on the bar and strolled out again. I don`t think the barstaff even noticed.
