The Alan Lomax collection to be put up for streaming

I just read an article on the New York Times website saying that by the end of the month Association for Cultural Equity will have the entire audio library of the Alan Lomax collection(17000 tracks\5000 hours of audio) up for streaming. For those of you who don't know who Lomax was, he essentially collected and cataloged as much of 20th century of folk music as he could find. Lomax would record anyone he could find playing roots music wherever he could find it. I'm really looking forward to being able to look through it and thought some of you may be interested as well.

I believe he was mentioned in the Bob Dylan Chronicles. The name rings a bell and that's the only place I think I may have heard of him. I think he was a friend of Bob.

Yeah Lomax's apt was the place to be in NYC in the late 50's\early 60's, kind of like what Warhol's place became, and Dylan was one of the regulars there.

i thought so. Cant remember exactly but I think he was the guy that Dylan spoke so highly of, said he was very intelligent, And had a great book and record collection that Dylan loved to disect.

I`m looking forward to this. I have a Mississippi Fred McDowell that was recorded by by Alan Lomax in Como, Mississippi in September 1959.

This is great! Alan Lomax is my hero! They should make a movie out of him, starring Leonardo Dicaprio. He looks a bit similar (to me at least).
