Mississippi Queen - rockabilly/country band

Biography
Code:

Mississippi Queen is the oldest, true-to-a-rockabilly-bone rockabilly drumless trio in Croatia. Founded in late 1988 by Karlo Starcevic and some other hepcats those days, they soon started playing around the Zagreb area - this is not a beer factory, but capitol city - eventually forming that unique slappin sound provided by Jurica`s bass. Here one has to mention that Mississippi Queen was the reason for Jurica to fall in love with the double bass, later to become Master of Music in String Performance...but, that is another story...Until 2001, MQ had Renato Zgrablic-Pit on the lead guitar, known as the singing bird from the hills for his beautiful tenor voice - pity, he never got to form band of his own. Now MQ has Ivan "Sammy" Semes on the lead guitar, the masterbrain of the rockabilly licks and tricks - not only in his neck of the woods! There were a whole lotta recording sessions, and whole bunch of recorded songs put down since 1988, but the real thing came in 2006 with the latest album on Rhythm Bomb Records. Would see the album out sooner, if there wasn`t for heavy Croatian liquer in Tail Records in 2003...the stuff might have killed mr. Lars, but was silber enought to call things off - after 1 year of scratching his head... There is plenty more to be said, but will leave that for the next gig where you can ask the band anything you need to know...and, music will say the rest!
