This one's new to me but sounds promising.
This album won a recent selection poll of http://www.musicbanter.com/country-f...lbum-club.html - but of course everyone is welcome to join in the debate.

So, anyone have an opinion they want to share ?

^ Welcome to Music Banter, Mr. H. Duck of Kuala Lumpur.

How do you like Radio Mali ?
I`ve just looked it up, and although it was released after Talking Timbuktu, it`s an album of earlier material apparently.

In the west, Timbuktu is easily his most famous album - it even won him a "Grammy" apparently. To me it`s a very good collaboration; it sounds like two musicians finding genuine common ground and producing some beautiful guitar music. Sometimes, though, it makes me a bit impatient because I feel their touch is a little too light.

ok i'll d/l it and give you my thoughts

i didn't like Radio Mali that much but his playing was phenomenal, it's just there's too many plodding middle-of-the-road songs on it

edit - ok, i got it and heard it once - it's awesome - i thought Toure's Malian blues already stood up on its own, but mixed with American roots music, it's a heady brew

will discuss at length once i've properly assimilated it

Yeah I think I would have to agree. It is a good album but there aren't a lot of highs or lows. Just kind of pleasantly lilts along. Maybe a good introduction album for Toure to bring his music to a wider audience.
