This sounds very 1973, and I mean that in a very good way. Definitely resounds as that airy forest-y sorta post-prog folk music. I don't think I'll listen to it again and again, but it was a wonderful way to spend 41 minutes.

Pretty sure Jackhammer did a thread on this dude. Good stuff tho, not as husky as Martyn but with nice spacy textures in the sound. Preferable "let's **** in the wild grasses" kind of jamz.

I knew I remembered hearing about this guy somewhere here. Not a whole thread on him but jackhammer wrote about Higgins once. Definitely mostly good.

I wanted to like this album, partly because it appears to be a one-off collaboration of forgotten musicians, and partly because I wouldn`t like Cru Hoor`s first nomination to be his last.

As Joy Circumcision says, it`s very much a product of its time; a gentle, indulgent album, with several tracks that lacked any spark at all to catch my interest.
I liked Thicker Than A Smokie and the songs which had some extra instrumentation thrown in ; the piano on Stable The Spuds, the slide (?) on It Didn`t Take Too Long, but for me the rather dirge-like voice and guitar of GH kept dragging the mood down. I might play it a couple of times more to see if I`m missing the point, but there`s a limit to how many times I want to listen to lyrics like these :-

I`ll drag him down
There`s no hope
Wonderin` how
Gonna meet the Pope.

Yeah I'm sorry to say this one didn't really grab me. I didn't hate it by any means but there didn't seem to be any stand-out tracks that left any lasting impression. Whether or not the rushed production detracted from the album overall is hard to say. All in all I'd say good not great.

What do you think, or know, about this guy ? Very subtle beauty to the simplicity and repetition of this song, it just flows so beautifull like the guitar and voice are weaving an intricate wicker basket of sound.

Does he remind you of any other artist ? Not Really!

Will you be looking for more of his material ? Hell yes!

Hi, Conchobhar ! If you`re talking about the album`s title track, yes, that`s one of the ones that works very well.

^ This is a truly inspired metaphor, especially for describing a folk album. Wish I`d thought of it myself !!
