Oh, I'll go ahead and nominate Dark Country Magic by Big Blood. It's an incredibly catchy, well-written psychedelic folk album with experimental tendencies.

So, what`s the news on this album, guys ?

I thought that the album was a little bit bland with its moments here and there. I liked some of the vocals and the drums sort of reminded me of The Velvet Underground, oddly enough. The somewhat psychedelic elements of the album were its saving grace, which made me vote for an "okay" on the poll.

Hey, I thought exactly the same, Frownland ! I`ve only played about 4 tracks so far, but half-way through Ringers in the Fold I realized there was something very familiar about the sound; the somber, repetitive riff with a cello or something moaning away on top.
Glad to see that at least someone is commenting on the album - for myself, I have to do some more listening before I commit myself to an actual vote.

PS. Didn`t like the opening track much, so I hope there aren`t too many others like that; I`d much rather listen to a folky variation of the Velvets.

I liked the album in that I could see what they were trying to do but I didn't really feel much of a connection with it. A fairly detached listen for me personally but I could see qualities that others might appreciate so I'll give it a 'good' rating.

Finally gave this album an attentive listen, and I think I understand Jack Pat`s enthusiasm.
There are four short tracks that, for me, are just doodling, filler junk that should never have made it to the album, but that still leaves eight tracks, much stronger and much longer, that would justify the purchase price. These tracks are mysterious, but easy on the ear and set me imagining: suppose that after masterminding Tomorrow Never Knows John Lennon had told the Beatles, "OK, that`s how our next album is going to sound" - well, that album might`ve ended up like Dark Country Magic , which therefore gets an "excellent" from me.

I know I didn't exactly rave about this album but the track Song for RO-HE-GE just popped up on shuffle and I must say it caught my attention. I had to check iTunes to remember who the artist was but I enjoyed it.
