Post Uniquely Vague: Dark Steel Guitar

So here's the deal,

I'm doing a little research and brainstorming for a composition. I have always found a beauty in the lap steel/pedal steel guitar. From Hawaii to Nashville and whatever is in between.

My quest: I'm looking for some odd ball steel guitar. Definitely traditional or older/vintage if possible. Seems like a lot of steel guitar pieces are composed or arranged in major keys. I understand most of these instruments are usually tuned in an open major tuning. But is there anything out there that's really minor and dark?

like... think of "The Adventures in Paradise Theme" after lava desecrated the palm covered white sandy beach. or a instrumental of "Satan is Real" by the Louvin Brothers in a minor key?! catch my drift on what i mean by "odd ball"?

Even if it's not close, list some stuff or stuff you really like that gives yourself a dark feeling. i love to find inspiration and influence in anything out there!

Thanks,
Loui A. Tomic
