Vote for a FAIR album before Jan 31

Every two weeks the Folk And International Roots Album Club votes for an album that they will listen to and discuss in the coming weeks.
Anyone can vote in this poll, but if you vote, please follow through and be ready to discuss whichever album wins the poll.

Five albums to choose from here :-

Kef by Aram Bajakian (2011)

Three musicians who can`t decide if they`re a traditional Armenian wedding band, a jazz combo or a rock power trio, so they just put it all together in one album. This instrumental album is noisier and less traditional than most FAIR club nominations, but it retains just enough roots to be included here I hope.

I'll nominate another throat singing album since the last one was so popular. It's Oidupaa Vladimir Oiun's Divine Music From a Jail. It's vocals and accordian, written and recorded during Oidupaa's Serbian imprisonment. It's a gorgeous album and it has some of the best throat singing I've ever heard.

Rock Art And The X-Ray Style by Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros
( 1999 )

Can`t seem to get any image of this album to open :(

In a surprising change of style, JS put aside the punk fury of London`s Burning and made an excentric album of shuffling, urban reggae and folk-rock. He furthur expanded his own particular vision of the multi-cultural music scene on his next album, Global A Go Go, but song for song, I think Rock Art is stronger. Don`t dismiss these albums (as I did for years) as an exercise in musical tourism; they are much more consistant and convincing than that. And if you`re wondering if this is really FAIR music, well JS himself described this Yalla Yalla track as " an ancient British folk song - written in 1999" That`s a good enough excuse for me !
Thanks as always to the people who make the effort to share their enthusiasm for FAIR music here.
:)
Now let`s get voting ....

I`m glad you like it; I find it irresistable for some reason. Are you talking about how it`s spliced with a different song in the middle ? There are undamaged versions on Youtube, but I chose this one because it has the album cover.

Oops looks like I missed the voting. Sorry, been trying not to goof off so much on here so I can get some real world things done. For the record I probably would have gone for the Aram Bajakian.

It`s time you left the real world to look after itself, stp - that way you can devote yourself 24/7 to MB.
Following the usual rules, Aram Bajakian is the winner anyway; your vote makes for a more convincing victory, though. Thanks !
