Music that helped changed the World

What are some songs that helped changed the world and how did they change the world?

For example:

Asimbonango by Johnny Clegg is an incredibly powerful song denouncing apartheid and brought attention to those who fought for equality in South Africa.

This piece is truly powerful. The way MJ and Lionel were able to get a bunch of musicians together and create a lasting work that brings attention to people in need is astounding.

^ Johnny Clegg's whole career has been a good example of co-operation and tolerance. To see Nelson Mandela so happy to join in is very touching, and there aren't many artists who can top that !

We may not've noticed it much, but in Africa I believe this epic song-with-a-message was a big hit. It came out in 1987, at a time when it's message was both new and important, and radio was one of the best ways to circulate information, so I like to think that Franco's song helped to awaken people to the danger of AIDS. If so, he helped make Africa a better place. Just two years after releasing this record Franco's death occasioned four days of national mourning in Zaire: that gives some indication of this guy's status, and how people presumably paid attention to his lyrics:

Freddie Mercury's improvisation at the Live Aid concert.

Because during those few moments, he literally had the world singing with him.
