I think us humans are very big headed. Global warming may well be happening but this could well be caused by much larger things. Solar cycles, things like that. We are pretty insignificant in the grand scale of things, even if we like to think that we are in control of a whole planets atmosphere!
I'm of the opinion that if we pump **** loads of C02 into the environment the plants would soak it up (its what they live on) the more there is in the air the more the plants would grow and soak up. See this example with one of our favorite plants... bullmall.com/cannabis/growing1.htm - The only problem with that is we have chopped most of the worlds forests down. That is the issue we should be dealing with. Stop cutting down forests, plant some more, problem solved.
At the end of the day we are more likely to be ****ed over by a big volcano erupting and blocking out the sun for years or a big bit of space rock hitting us and doing the same.
- Oh, and the earth (and all the planets in our solar system) will be eaten by the sun before we stop fighting over boarders/religions/money etc and get the **** out of here anyway...

Ignoring most of the arguments made prior (because I skimmed and I don't think you touched on this), im going to ask, why you think more evaporation would occur? Im not the worlds foremost authority on global warming, but it was my understanding that layers of atmosphere are getting pealed away which is the cause for higher levels of more intense (or shortwave) UV rays coming into our atmosphere. This accounts for the higher cancer rates in the southern hemisphere but I don't see a correlation between higher amounts of shortwave ultra-violet rays and water evaporating.

The problem is the atmosphere disappearing (and subsequent problems from there), so Im not arguing against you per say, just asking for a connection.

most of the people who think that global warming is a hoax seem to be those who are uneducated on the matter or those who are on the payroll of some major petroleum corporation.
the majority of scientists have come to understand that it is a very real problem and that it is too drastic of late to be considered natural and cyclical.
judging by evidence from antarctic cores, it is a human made dilemma.
perhaps nikhil's next paycheck depends on whether or not they support global warming as a legitimate phenomena?

There is some evidence against global warming, but even more for it. What annoys me is when people take those one or two pieces of evidence against global warming and use them for absolute proof that there is no global warming, while completely disregarding the overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

The thing that may be a farce around here are some peoples self-proposed intelligence levels. :usehead: :baseball:

pretty interesting video, totally agree with him :)

Dumbing global warming down to Pascal's Wager may be the single most ridiculous thing ever.

I just learned that the CO2 a cow emits during a day > a cars exhaust from a full gallon of gas.

brianmtuk 06-20-2007 05:54 PM

I emit more than a cow

brianmtuk 06-20-2007 05:57 PM

how many cows are there on the roads in england? and how many cars in the meadows?
