Nope. Most people own guns their entire lives without maiming or killing anyone. They're both tools. I could kill you with a baseball bat, a golf club, a rope, as well any one of the number of cooking and sporting knives I own.

Let's agree to disagree and both move on. Neither of us is going to budge.

So you'd be cool with legalizing bazookas, mounted machine guns, and claymore mines for personal defense?

Sporting is actual competitions with pro shooters for trophies and money prizes. Very popular in parts of the country.

I'd say target, is well shooting these types of things to improve your chops. Usually done at an indoor or outdoor range

Recreation would be going out and simply having some fun. I'd love to have this guy's back yard.

Yeah that guy bought an assault rifle to shoot watermelons.

No. I'm all for reasonable regulations. Now you're just being silly.

If a knife is the same as a handgun then a machine gun is the same as a handgun, unless you're admitting that there are in fact clear distinctions between all of them.

He didn't buy it. He's well known in gun circles for gun reviews and his markmanship. He gets stuff shipped to him all the time by manufacturers and stores. He's reviews them, cleans them, and ships them back.

I'm sure he doesn't have any of his own to pursue his lifelong love of shooting watermelons.

Some should be regulated. Some should remain legal. Switchblades are illegal. I can't carry my butterfly knives on me or in my car. Stilettos are illegal.

Never said they were the same. Said they are both tools. You guys can try to twist me into a pretzel over this all you want. I ain't budging on anything.

And that's an attempt to equivocate them.

He's more into handguns. Guy enjoys blowing **** up with guns. Nothing wrong with that. Tons of people do. Power to them.
