Can you for once make a post that sounds like you have opinions of your own and not like you're regurgitating something you read or heard or watched?

This I side with to preserve my sanity basically.

Then in my heart of hearts I believe nothing particularly good about humanity besides our propensity for being good with tools. I think humans are cretins who aren't far enough from a history of swinging from trees and flinging their poo to be trusted with running a global civilization of 7 billion people.

I can't truly commit to either philosophy because I can't be nihilistic enough to commit to the latter because it's an "existential dead end" (to quote OH) and I can't be bright and shiny enough to believe in the former. I get the feeling that this isn't at all an uncommon approach tbh but most people feel the need to side with optimism.

Humans are complicated and vastly differ from one another.

for example, do anti-choice voters have a self-interest?

Religious ones, yes.

Edit: There's actually anti-abortion propaganda floating around saying that abortions are slowly extincting the human race, believe it or not.

Zhanteimi 10-02-2018 10:22 PM

Not the human race. Black people. They think abortion is, in some ways, eugenics.

Frownland 10-02-2018 10:23 PM

Just drown fetuses in holy water during abortions so they go to "heaven". Win win.

Unless they think that sinful behavior will bring God's holy wrath down upon us.

I've never met a black person that thinks like this in my entire life.

Zhanteimi 10-02-2018 10:28 PM

No. White people think that.
