Horses can recognise human emotion.

I heard one of the scientists talking about this on the radio a couple of days back; he was behaving like it was breaking news, proudly proclaiming that only dogs were believed to possess this ability, yet anyone who's ever worked with horses knows they're very intelligent and sensitive animals. I wouldn't be surprised if the Mongols knew it 800 years ago.

I mucked some 20 stalls every morning back when I was a farm hand, and yes horses can understand human emotion. Even disgust.
