interesting. most of these people seem to be from afghanistan or iran. its so obvious to me that they think they'll be more accepted or not persecuted if they're not muslim lol. which is stupid. i've heard many stories of christian arabs being persecuted abroad.

Definitely more about skin color than actual religion. I imagine most people's knee jerk reaction to a "muslim" is far more based on the fact that they look like a muslim than that they have been confirmed to be a muslim, so converting isn't really going to mean much.
