Shena Hardin, Cleveland woman caught on tape driving on sidewalk, must wear "idiot" sign - Crimesider - CBS News

Cleveland resident Shena Hardin, 32, was busted last month. Witnesses say Hardin drove on the sidewalk on a daily basis to avoid waiting behind the bus, according to CBS affiliate WOIO.

Fearing a potentially dangerous situation, the bus driver contacted the Third District Police before starting his route. Officers waited for Hardin, and caught her in the act.

At the same time, the bus driver caught Hardin's maneuver on his cellphone video.

On Monday, a Cleveland Municipal Court judge told Hardin to stand at an intersection for two days next week, according to court records. She will have to wear a sign saying: "Only an idiot drives on the sidewalk to avoid a school bus."

The judge ordered her to wear the sign from 7:45 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. next Tuesday and Wednesday.

Hardin's license was suspended for 30 days and she was ordered to pay $250 in court costs.

I just watched a video linked to that page which had an interview with her mother (who was in the Jeep with her) who just flat out lied to the reporter, telling him that it was the first time they had ever done that. Not only do the people in the neighborhood say otherwise, but it's pretty obvious this was something she did on a regular basis based on the fact that the bus driver was sitting there waiting to get a video of it and the cop car was sitting there waiting to pull her over.

I know how annoying buses can be, especially school buses, but serious? Gold medal for strategic stupidity.

Though, court punishment is ridiculous despite it being funny.

Wow. Talk about retarded!
I mean, the whole point of stopping for the school buses is because there are children exiting them and potentially crossing the street. It's a pretty good chance that those children will be crossing the sidewalk at some point. The sidewalk is not a passing lane. I guess she finally had that fact deposited right up her selfish and irresponsible ass.
