Quantum physics

One of the most interesting topics to me ever.

I like the fact that particals only act a certain way when we observe them. Its the first step toward mind over matter in my opinion.

Check out the Double Slit Experiment. Really gets the wheels turning.

The fact that matter behaves as a wave & a particle at the same time? Not that interesting, just interesting to understand the implications it has on macroscopic physics (i.e. bending of light around a star).

I don't think that many people here have a firm enough grasp on quantum physics for this to serve as a beneficial discussion. I mean, I still don't completely understand it & I only took a half-semester class on it.

Well, if it's one of your favourite topics to you ever, then how about writing a bit more than just "check out this and this"? There's not even a link. You did the same thing in the alien thread ..

.. And you tricked me into thinking this was a potentially serious discussion on quantum physics.

yep, the double slit experiment is absolutely crazy stuff. I don't understand the topic itself at all though.

I love this topic though, and always try to understand it the best i can

Its based on the idea that if you are to watch "observe" particals they will act as expected and if you dont watch the act differently than expected. This is as close as I have come to seeing something fall under the "Mind over Matter" catagory.

Is it really there if you cant see it? After all its all just matter. everything is made up of atoms. Do things in this world just act as we expect all the time? Do we control more than just these small particals???

the truly beautiful thing about quantum mechanics is that it shows you can have a mathematical structure for understanding the universe, and that for that one structure you can have tens of interpretations for what it actually 'means,' each of which is equally likely (that is, equally unprovable)

I can't say I've done much research myself, but the film What the Bleep Do We Know!? (2004) is a great introduction to quantum physics.

Saw that one and down the rabbit hole as well
